Hi there, I'm Andrew, a writer initially from Bury in Greater Manchester but now living in Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire. I've
also spent a lot of my life in Whitley Bay, near Newcastle, and was a student, all those years ago, in South Wales. I still
consider myself a northerner and am a keen follower of Manchester City Football Club.
Although originally qualified in Manufacturing Engineering, I have spent most of my career in the I.T Industry as a software developer.
Outside of work I have a 10 year old son who fills up a lot of my time. When not relaxing with him I'm a keen runner and love photography,
classical music, history, cooking and socialising with friends.
How I Started
I've always had a passion for writing and over the years have developed many ideas for stories. The basis for my first novel was
created when I was just 17, but work, socialising and general living always got in the way of me completing it. However in 2002 I
decided to do something about it and enrolled on a home-based creative writing course.
This allowed me to tweak my writing skills and learn the tricks of the trade. This motivated me to construct my first book as I had
been taught - and then to write it. Over a period of four months in late 2003, I wrote, in pen, a little of the story each night.
Once it was complete I spent the next four months typing it!
And then I did what a lot of people do; placed it into a desk drawer. Although I had completed a writing course and also written a
book, I lacked a belief in myself that I could become a successful writer.
So what changed? Well, the desire to become a writer never left me and so I continued to write whatever was in my head the way I was
tuaght on that course. That has resulted in 3 books (so far), the lastest one (Inner Strength) is detailed on this website.
All I need to do now is to get on with it!
